November and December 2015

The end of the year included a Thanksgiving at Disney and New Year's with family in Levanworth.  The highlight was getting both kids on skis for the first time which they loved.

Emilia's reading continues to blossom and we could not be happier for her.  She is devouring chapter books and loves to sort and resort the books she has read.  This month she also began Girl Scouts (Daisies) andTae Kwon Do - which has already led to the "with great power comes great responsibility" talk.

Julian seems to enjoy school and his friends but asks every morning if it is the weekend (and also if he can have chocolate milk).  His current interests are Phineas and Ferb, anything with cheese or dipping sauce, taking selfies in photoboth on our Mac, doing an 'experiment,' and anything his sister is into.

August 2015 Back to School & Julian's 4th bday

Back to school.  Our daughter is in 1st Grade: new school, new teachers, new friends, new drop off/pick up, Spanish language curriculum, gifted math and science. She has been brave and seems to be thriving with all the new challenges. Julian also moved to a new class and is working on his letters and beginnings of writing.

After impatiently waiting through the summer, Julian's 4th birthday finally came. We celebrated with a dumpling dinner, cupcake party at school and a big pirate party with all his friends. He is enjoying his camera, rescue bots, and blower 'ting' (leaf blower) and already asking about Christmas.

July and Seattle

Emilia's July summer camp ended with a production of the Little Mermaid and she had the part of Flounder.  She had lots of lines and both solo and group songs, all of which the whole family has now heard too much.  She did great and we were all very excited for her.  At the end of the month, we flew to Seattle to visit grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.  We met baby Bettina, Julian and Benicio played Star Wars and 'bad guys,' and both kids warmed up to Dani and Max.

June 2015 and Sanibel

At the beginning of the month Emilia had her last few days of Kindergarten and their big year end celebration.  The next week she started theater camp but before the show at the end of the month we left for Sanibel to meet up with their cousins.  Both kid's swimming has greatly improved and they loved the pool and were fearless in the ocean.  We are all enjoying the more relaxed summer schedule and looking forward to visiting our Seattle cousins soon.
