June 2014

Emilia had a month of firsts and lasts. Her ballet classes, which she began just earlier this year, culminated with a big recital in a theater and she attended her last day at Canterbury where she has been a student since she was just 6 months old. Now she is looking forward to summer camp, swim lessons, and starting kindergarten in August.  Emilia is now reading short stories and books on her own and almost unbeknownst to her, has begun reading everything around her.  She has also enjoyed working on her math skills and amazingly seems to love math drills (we'll see how long that lasts).

Julian continues his roll as the sweetest little boy and ultra demanding toddler all at once.  His keen sense of smell leads him to exclaim as we enter a restaurant "What's dat smell. I don't like dat smell, its too stinky." He also cannot get enough perfume soap and now has his own "Strawberry Shortcake" foam soap and accompanying mini hand sanitizer that he sniffs.  Julian is really into Spiderman but his biggest concern this month is trying to understand why the Hulk does not wear shoes - my many explanations have left only more questions.

Lastly, I want to document our kids' strange love for an ice bath - yes, cold water with as much as I will allow - they love it.
